Chapter 15: Number Three
Jillian: *wakes up to Aiden sprawled out over the bed, his arm over top of her forhead* *pushes him off* Eww, Aiden get off of me! You perv!
Aiden: *stirs a little then notices his position, jumps out of bed* Aw, ew, gross!
Jillian: You're going to get a solid kick for that once I'm big enough to hurt you again. *frowns at him*
Jack: *stirs from his space on the floor and sits up* What are you two arguing about now?
Jillian: Aiden was hogging the bed!
Aiden: *yawns and stretches* Let's just get back to the hat shop and get this all over with. It makes me nervous staying here for so long.
Jack: *also stretches* I agree. *prepares for the day with the others and heads out towards the hat shop*
Jillian: Jack, slow down! I can't keep up, remember? *looks ahead at the entrance to the hat shop* Hey, isn't that Garnet? *points*
Little Garnet: *looks around nervously then quickly moves through the streets*
Aiden: Ah, shit... we're gonna lose her!
Jillian: Well what are we standing here for? *starts running after her down the street*
Jack: Jillian! *runs after her*
Aiden: *attempts to follow Jillian but gets pushed around by so many people in the streets* Jillian! Wait!
Little Garnet: *weaves in and out of people's feet, peers behind her...*
Jillian: *runs after Little Garnet still, sees her look back, but the view is quickly blocked by a very large person* Eep! *dodges around the person and keeps running*
Jack: Jillian! *tries to run after her, but gets stopped suddenly by the large person* *sighs and turns back towards where he last saw Aiden and begins walking, whispers softly* I hope she atleast remembers how to get back.
Aiden: *runs to Jack* Where did they go? I lost 'em.
Jack: I did too. Jillian was still on her tail, though, so hopefully she will keep up. *frowns*
Little Garnet: *slinks through the streets and heads up stairs leading to the roofs*
Jillian: *looks up at the stairs, frowns and then starts climbing them*
Little Garnet: *runs quickly across the roofs, suddenly stops and looks behind her, feeling someone is following her...*
Jillian: *spies Garnet stop and quickly jumps behind a wide chimney, nearly slipping down the rooftop in the process* *thinks to self - Garnet is going to hear about how she almost killed me once I get back..*
Little Garnet: *runs down a set of stairs leading into a lonely alley way, runs through it til she reaches the beach, stumbles through the sand, trips and falls on her knees* *motionless for a minute, then begins to dig with her hands*
Jillian: *runs after her, nearly falling down the stairs as she goes* *suddenly stops at the edge of the beach, then darts behind a stack of crates, watching Garnet as she digs* *thinks to herself - She buried it in sand? Typical pirate I guess..*
Little Garnet: *finishes burying the pouch and sits in the sand for a moment, lifts hands to face and cries* *wobbles to a standing position and walks slowly back towards the town, wiping tears away*
Jillian: *hides as Little Garnet passes her, then runs to the place where the gem was buried* *kneels down and quickly unburies the gem, then turns and runs back into town*
Little Garnet: *quickly moves back through the streets and runs into her grandmother's hat shop*
Jack: *sitting on a bench outside of the inn where they stayed the previous night* I hope Jillian isn't lost..
Aiden: That's just what we need - to lose something in the past. That would really make things a mess.
Jillian: *runs up to Jack and Aiden, speaks softly* I have it!
Jack: *breathes a sigh of relief as she approaches* Have what?
Jillian: *rolls eyes, still speaking softly* The gem! She just buried it, and I took it after she left. *holds it out in her hand*
Aiden: *stands up and holds hand up* Whoa whoa whoa, wait a minute... didn't you say she was protective of the gem? What the hell happened between yesterday and today that caused her to already bury it? She looked upset going into the hat shop. *points towards the door*
Jillian: *frowns* I don't know. That's why I plan on going in there expecting to play. *hands the gem to Jack* You hold on to that.
Jack: *takes the gem and puts it in his pack* Jillian, now that we have the gem, we should go back to avoid any time rifts..
Aiden: Yeah, shouldn't we just go home?
Jillian: I'm not going to ignore the fact that she was upset! *frowns* Fine, I'll go alone! *runs off into the crowd towards the hat shop*
Jack: Jillian, wait! *frowns as she disappears into the crowd* I guess we're still waiting then..
Aiden: *crosses arms* I hope this doesn't go bad.
Jillian: *opens up the door to the shop and peers inside* Hello? Garnet?
Grandma Jade: *finishes up ringing out a customer as she sees Jillian enter* Oh Jillian! Welcome back, are you here to play with Garnet? I believe she's up in her room.
Jillian: *nods* I'll go up and see her. *scampers up the stairs to Garnet's room* Garnet?
Little Garnet: *sitting on her bed, looking out the window to the sea* *sniffs* I don't wanna play right now.
Jillian: *moves in to the room a little* Why? What happened? *frowns*
Little Garnet: *keeps back towards her* Go away. *sniffs*
Jillian: *frowns still, taking note of Little Garnet's long sleeve shirt, despite the warm weather outside* Okay.. *turns and walks back downstairs, darting back outside before Grandma Jade can see her leave*
Aiden: *stands up quickly* That was quick! What was the matter?
Jillian: She wouldn't tell me.. She just told me to go away. Let's just go back, we got what we came for.
Aiden: We can ask her when we get back...
Jack: *nods* We should get out of the city. *begins walking with the others back towards the woods where they arrived*
Jillian: Yeah..
Jack: *looks around to make sure no one will see, then removes the orb and paper from his pack* Let's go then. *holds the orb and reads the paper aloud; the orb glows a bright white, then the three are gone from the forest*
Jillian: *walks up to the group of pirates with Aiden and Jack close behind* Garnet, I never knew you wore pink duck overalls! *grins playfully at her*
Garnet: Oh God! *turns slightly red and covers face* My grandmother made me wear those!
Aiden: *kicks dirt at Garnet* You kicked me in the balls!
Garnet: Hey, stop it! I what? *stops for a moment then looks like she remembered something* Oh! OH! I remember you! You were that ass little boy that came into my mother's shop! *points accusingly then drops arm* *turns even more red and looks away*
Aiden: *laughs a little then stops* What?
Garnet: Heh. Nothing. *crosses arms*
Jillian: *laughs some, then looks to Baku* Regardless of the hilarious stories that we have to tell everyone, we got the gem. *looks back at Garnet* Garnet was nice enough to show it to me. *grins*
Jack: *takes the gem out of his pack and hands it over to Baku*
Baku: Well done well done! *holds up the gem to the light and watches it sparkle* Wow, what a beauty!
Garnet: *sees the gem then takes a deep breath* *turns head to face Azrael, who is sitting next to her under a tree* *softly* I feel sick. *looks at him*
Azrael: *ignores her, focuses on the gem*
Jillian: *looks at Baku, bites lip a little* Umm, Baku? Do you think we could make a stop at Greenleaf? If I'm remembering right, it's only a day or two's worth of travel from here..
Jack: *glances over at Garnet and Azrael, frowns slightly for a very brief second, then looks to Baku* If you still think we aren't worth staying along with you, that would be the time and place to drop us off as well.
Baku: *admires the gem* Huh? What? How much are ya gonna pay me to backtrack like that?
Fiona: *walks up to Baku* They just aided you in getting your gem, Baku.
Baku: *clenches the gem and looks at Azrael* I'll see what I can do...
Jillian: *nods and smiles a little, then looks over at Garnet* *thinks to self - I still want to know why she was so upset that day we left...*
Callie: Okay, so are we just going to sit around here all day? No offense, Fiona, but now that Jilly, Jack, and Aiden are back, do we have any other reason to stay?
Fiona: *begins walking out of the village* I have no reason to stay.
Baku: *watches as everyone moves out of the village, slips Azrael the gem as he passes*
Garnet: *watches as the gem is passed to Azrael, holds stomach and continues walking*
Azrael: *grabs Garnet's arm and pulls her back behind everyone, slows down* *holds the gem up to her* Why did you take the gem when you were younger?
Garnet: *looks at him threateningly* *pulls arm free of his grasp* I was young! It was pretty, and I wanted it! *crosses arms and keeps walking forward* Leave me alone.
Azrael: *catches up with her and stops her again, moves in front of her* *takes her hand and presses the gem against her palm* This feeling is different from the shard, am I correct? Much more powerful, isn't it?
Garnet: *pulls away and punches Azrael in the face* It makes me sick if that's what you mean. And so do you! *walks quickly away, looking upset*
Azrael: *massages his jaw and laughs, puts the gem in his pocket and trails behind the group*
Jillian: *glances back to see Garnet walking alone* *slows down to walk beside her* Soooo, you had a crush on Aiden way back then, didn't you? *grins*
Garnet: *obviously irritated* I don't really want to talk about it.
Jillian: *frowns* Fine. I'll just.. just go away like you told me to. *picks up her pace and catches up to walk with Callie instead*
