Nico Robin is probably the costume with the weirdest backstory behind it. I decided to make it after Melly and Keith both had One Piece costumes that they were wearing at Ohayocon. I made the pants fairly quickly and easily.. it was my first time making pants! The other adventure was spray painting shoes. They came out alright, but if I ever want to wear the costume again, I'll have to repaint them. So what's so odd about this backstory? Well, other than what I just mentioned and a few other small things, I made the rest of the costume in the car or in hotel rooms on a vacation to and from Orlando, Florida! My parents and I drove from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Florida for a Christmas and New Year's vacation. Since we wouldn't be getting back until just a day or two before Ohayocon, I packed up all of my materials, brought along my sewing machine, and with a lot of organization, I finished the costume! I would pin or glue various pieces of costume in the car while we were driving, then I would use the machine in the hotel rooms to do the main stuff. I even have a few photos of me working on her top while in Disney World! It was definitely an interesting time, and the costume came out great.
