Ritsuko is easily my favorite character from Neon Genesis Evangelion. When Hilary and Ali told us they were putting together an Evangelion group for Ohayocon 2007, Melly and I jumped on that right away! I initially had a lot of trouble making this costume. The week and a half before the convention, my family and I drove down to Florida to visit my sister. Because of that, I didn't have any time to sew the costume! So, I packed up my supplies and my sewing machine, and I managed to make most of the costume in the car or in hotel rooms! It was definitely an adventure. For the skirt, I wanted it to be accurate with a high waistline. However, no patterns exist anymore for such a skirt. Fortunately for me, my mom had saved patterns from when she was growing up, so I used one of her old patterns from the 70s to make the skirt! The wig gave me a bit of trouble, too.. I actually went through 3 wigs and 5 variations of those wigs before finally being happy with the final product. Who knew that it would be the cheapest wig of the three that ended up working the best! Overall, though, this is one of my favorite costumes. It's quite comfortable (aside from the shoes), so that makes it very easy to wear again and again!
